How does MakeThreads work?
MakeThreads extracts the transcript from YouTube videos and uses AI to transform it into engaging Twitter/X content. You can generate threads, single tweets, or long-form articles.
Why isn't the extension showing on a YouTube video?
Make sure you're on a YouTube video page (not the homepage or search results). If the extension panel doesn't appear, try refreshing the page. The video must have captions/subtitles available for the extension to work.
What if a video doesn't have a transcript?
MakeThreads requires videos to have captions or auto-generated subtitles. If a video doesn't have these, you'll see an error message. Try a different video or use the web app at makethreads.app to paste your own text.
How many generations do I get?
Free users get 10 generations. If you need more, you can request additional quota through the extension or contact us directly.
Is there a limit on video length?
The extension can process videos of any length, including podcasts that are several hours long. Very long videos may take a bit longer to process.
How do I copy the generated content?
Click the "Copy" button next to your generated content. For threads, you can copy individual tweets or the entire thread.
Troubleshooting
Generation failed error
This can happen due to temporary server issues. Wait a few moments and try again. If the problem persists, check your internet connection or contact support.
Extension not working after Chrome update
Try disabling and re-enabling the extension in chrome://extensions, or uninstall and reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store.
